It’s hard to say anything remarkable about Cornell’s Homecoming.

In Collegetown, students chugged borgs, dressed up in university red, and danced to Pitbull through the streets. And in the stands, the crowd watched the team stumble into another loss, bringing their record to zero for three this season. But I got the feeling most weren’t paying attention to the game. At the end of the day, Homecoming was something to do. Another calendar reason to day-drink, soak up the sun, and chat with some buddies. And why shouldn’t you? It’s another tradition of normalcy in an increasingly erratic and horrifying world. But I tend to get caught up in things and always feel worse for it. Better to be buzzed and dancing than thinking about the $100 million dollars the school is about to pay to appease the new regime. So, sit back, pretend the home team has a chance, and enjoy.
